An Lac Mission

Find Your Inner Peace

An Lạc (sukha) (安樂) signifies a state of profound peace and happiness that arises from spiritual practice in Buddhism. It reflects a deep sense of well-being cultivated through mindfulness, meditation, and living in harmony with the Dharma.

In 2003, Most Venerable Thich Thong Hai, along with a group of practitioners, purchased an 80-year-old church on 52,000 sq ft of land to renovate it into a Buddhist temple. The temple includes a Buddha hall, Meditation Garden, Center for Vietnamese Language school, and parking lot.

The temple is a two-level facility. The upper level comprises a shrine room featuring a Shakyamuni Buddha statue and a library. This hall holds many ceremonial activities and classes, such as chanting, meditation, Dharma talks, and yoga. The lower level is used for the Dining hall and kitchen.

The Meditation Garden enshrined many different types of stone Buddha statues, including the Shakyamuni Buddha Meditating under a tree, the Buddha entering Nirvana, an Amitabha Buddha, a Jade Buddha replica, and an 18-foot Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara. These statues surround the Lake and Bell of Peace, creating a relaxing and calming atmosphere.
